A.J. Kicks butt at Casa Manana this August
For a limited set of performances only this August, Casa Manana's 2017 Apprentices will be staging a full production of Michael Friedman and Alex Timbers' outrageously rocking musical about our seventh president, as part of the Broadway season. A truly polarizing figure in this nation's history, this heady musical re-imagines "Old Hickory" as the ultimate rock 'n' roll man of the people. The show's tagline is "A.J kicked British butt, shafted the Indians and smacked down the Spaniards all in the name of these United States - who cares if he didn’t have permission?" Well as it happens, plenty.....
This audacious mix of historical fact and fiction redefines America's often-hated seventh president - the man who invented the Democratic Party, forced the Native Americans west, and ultimately doubled the size of our nation - with a raucous blend of outrageous comedy, anarchic theatricality and an infectious emo rock score. And you, the audience are expected to join in with the singing!
